Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma pulled off a spectacular full-stretch, one-handed diving catch to dismiss Sameer Rizvi during the IPL 2026 clash against the Delhi Capitals. The vice-captain’s brilliant effort came as RCB defended a target of 176 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, April 18, keeping the home side firmly in control.
RCB were sharp in the field, applying constant pressure on Delhi during the chase. Phil Salt added to the intensity with an excellent catch in the deep to remove Karun Nair for just five runs. With Delhi reduced to 16/2 in the third over, the Axar Patel-led side was in urgent need of a stabilizing partnership.
However, RCB tightened their grip further as Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck again, picking up his third wicket of the spell with assistance from Sharma’s brilliance behind the stumps. Shortly after Nair’s dismissal, Rizvi edged a good-length delivery outside off stump.
Reacting instantly, Sharma dived to his right and extended his glove to complete a stunning catch just inches above the ground, showcasing exceptional awareness and reflexes. Watch the video here:

Sameer Rizvi’s slump continued despite moving back to his preferred No. 4 position, where he had earlier impressed. After kicking off his campaign with back-to-back fifties, the uncapped batter has managed just eight runs across his last three innings.
Delhi Capitals Stumble to 18/3 as Jitesh Sharma Pulls Off Stunning Catch in IPL 2026
Delhi Capitals endured a similar setback in their previous outing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2025, collapsing to 30/3 while chasing 164. The ongoing IPL 2026 clash is unfolding along the same lines, with the visitors suffering an early top-order collapse and relying on KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs to rebuild the innings.
Rahul has responded positively, taking the attack to the bowlers to make the most of the remaining powerplay overs. At the time of writing, Delhi Capitals have recovered slightly to reach 45/3 after five overs.
