England batter Joe Root showcased his brilliance in the field during the second Test in Ashes 2023 against Australia on Saturday, July 1 at The Lord’s, London. He pulled off a stunning reflex catch to dismiss Travis Head in the third innings on the penultimate day of the match. His fielding effort at short leg left everyone amazed.

Travis Head walked to bat after the fall of Usman Khawaja’s wicket when Australia was at 187/3. They lost a quick wicket, Josh Tongue dismissing Steve Smith. Head too soon walked back to the hut, a rare failure in recent times. In the sixty-eighth over, Stuart Broad bowled a short delivery aimed at Travis Head’s body. The Australian batter hopped and fended the ball with his bat.

The ball lobbed to the left of Joe Root who was at short leg. Root, with his brilliant reflexes, judged the ball early. He struck his left hand out and grabbed the ball to complete an outstanding catch. Australia lost the third wicket in quick succession with Head walking back for just seven runs from sixteen deliveries, including a four.
