[Watch] Safyaan Sharif’s Stunner To Dismiss Romario Shepherd In Super Sixes Of World Cup 2023 Qualifiers

Scotland bowler Sayaan Sharif pulled off a stunning one-handed catch against West Indies on Saturday, July 1 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare in the Super Sixes encounter of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers. His outstanding effort send all-rounder Romario Shepherd back to the pavilion, causing a huge blow to West Indies in the first innings.

West Indies were put in to bat first by Scotland. Their innings couldn’t get going and were soon reduced to 81/6 in around 21 overs. A decent partnership between Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder brought some stability to their innings. However, Shephard’s dismissal kicked off another batting collapse.

In the thirty-seventh over, Mark Watt bowled an outside off-stump short ball. Romario Shepherd looked to slash the ball but found Safyaan Sharif at the point. The ball went to the left of Safyaan, who flew sticking his left hand out to take a spectacular catch. Shepherd got out for 36 runs off 43 deliveries, with five boundaries.

It was a clinical performance from us: Brandon McMullen

Brandon McMullen was the pick of the bowlers for Scotland in the innings. He took three wickets in the match conceding 32 runs in nine overs. West Indies got all out for 181 runs in forty-four overs. Meanwhile, Chris Sole, Mark Watt and Chris Greaves also put up a good performance, picking two wickets each in the innings.

Speaking at the mid-innings break, Brandon McMullen expressed, “The new ball does a bit for me, love bowling up top and backed up Chris Sole well. I try and keep it tight, Sole does the same but is much more aggressive and runs in and bowls at pace. Brings a lot of confidence back into the dressing room going into the batting now. It was a clinical performance from us.”
