Watch: “Keep Clapping Boys” – Virat Kohli Asks The Dugout To Cheer For Them

Team India captain Virat Kohli is known to be a livewire on the field. He keeps up the energy levels of his teammates and it was on display in Cape Town on day 2 when he asked reserve cricketers to continue clapping from the dugout and cheer for the team.

The South African batters put up a good resistance against Indian bowlers and were looking to sneak in with a first innings lead. However, Mohammed Shami bursts in with two wickets in one over to leave the Proteas tottering at 159 for the loss of 6 wickets.

The Indian camp was certainly pumped and Virat Kohli wanted the dugout to keep the support going on for the bowlers as they have done an excellent job so far. Kohli insisted the dugout keep going with their ‘clap clap’ encouragement and it brought dividends quickly with Marco Jansen getting dismissed at the stroke of the Tea session.

Jasprit Bumrah leads India’s fightback with a five-wicket haul

Jasprit Bumrah registered his second five-wicket haul in South Africa to give India a first-innings lead of 13 runs despite a valiant effort from youngster Keegan Petersen, who threatened to take the game away with a 79-run knock.

South Africa batted well in patches but once Mohammed Shami dismissed Temba Bavuma and Kyle Verreynne in one over, it was only time, India ran down the Proteas batting. Jasprit Bumrah completed his seventh five-wicket haul overall to bowl out South Africa for 210 runs, thus, securing a 13-run lead.

In reply, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen brought the hosts back into the game with the wickets of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul in consecutive overs. Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara managed to hang on until the close of play. India are at 57/2, with a 70-run lead.
