[WATCH]- Keshav Maharaj Strikes Twice As India Suffer 408-Run Defeat vs South Africa

South African spinner Keshav Maharaj claimed the final two Indian wickets to secure a 408-run win in the second Test at Baraspara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Wednesday, November 26. The left-arm spinner took two wickets in just five balls, dismissing Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj, sealing a 2-0 series triumph for the Proteas.

Both wickets fell in the 64th over of India’s fourth innings. Jadeja, batting on 54, attempted an aggressive shot, but the ball stayed low and slipped under his bat, allowing keeper Kyle Verreynne to complete a simple stumping. Siraj also went for a big hit, and Marco Jansen sprinted in from mid-on to grab a catch with his left hand.

Simon Harmer Claims Six In Second Innings As India Suffers Heaviest Run Defeat

Simon Harmer once again dominated the proceedings, claiming six wickets in India’s second innings in Guwahati, adding to the three he had taken in the first. India began the day at 27/2, hoping to save a draw after being set an almost impossible target of 549. After dismissing KL Rahul for 13 late on Day 4, Harmer struck early on the final day by removing Kuldeep Yadav.

The 36-year-old then went on to take the wickets of Dhruv Jurel (2), Rishabh Pant (13), Washington Sundar (16), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (0). He finished with remarkable figures of 23-6-37-6, handing India their heaviest-ever defeat by runs in Test cricket. With a total of 17 wickets, Harmer was named Player of the Series.
