The Karachi Kings were chasing 197 runs in the game. They got off to a great start, with James Vince and Matthew Wade taking on the bowlers. The Imad Wasim-led team raced to 72 runs in around six overs. However, wickets fell in quick succession pushing them to the backfoot. Shoaib Malik tried to take the game deep, but a terrific effort from Pollard ended his less than run-a-ball knock.

In the seventeenth over, Abbas Afridi bowled a full delivery on the stumps. Malik tried to loft it but did not get the timing correct. The ball hit the toe end of the bat, and Pollard ran in from long-on to complete an outstanding catch. He dived to perfecting holding onto a stunner.
