Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer produced a magnificent effort on the field to run out Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Meanwhile, the Kolkata franchise won the toss and opted to field first.

With Umesh Yadav missing, Tim Southee got KKR off to a decent start. The veteran pacer gave away only two runs in the first four balls. However, a miscommunication between the LSG openers cost the Super Giants their first wicket.

It was a fuller than a good length that came back in and Quinton de Kock drove it on the rise. The ball rolls towards cover and he sets off for the single and then stops. By that time, KL Rahul was more than halfway down.

Shreyas Iyer swooped down on the ball and fired a direct hit at the bowler’s end. Rahul tried to get back in but is short by a yard or so. Quinton de Kock knew what he had done and had his hands along with the bat on his head.

Meanwhile, the KKR camp was certainly pumped to get KL Rahul for a duck. The LSG captain has been the lynchpin of the side, scoring the bulk of the runs.

Quinton de Kock launches a carnage after KL Rahul dismissal

With Lucknow reeling at 2/1 at the end of the first over, De Kock launched a counter-attack, taking on the KKR bowlers. The Proteas wicket-keeper batter made a move, hitting Tim Southee for 17 runs in the third over.

Quinton de Kock struck two boundaries of Anukul Roy and then smacked Harshit Rana for two sixes to continue the run-scoring spree. In the process, the wicket-keeper batter reached his half-century in 27 deliveries.

However, just when it looked like de Kock was up for a big knock he holed out to Shivam Mavi in an attempt to take on Sunil Narine. Lucknow are currently placed at 73/2 and will require a good partnership from Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya to post a daunting total on the board.
