Batting first, New Zealand posted 251/7 in 50 overs, with key contributions from Daryl Mitchell (63), Glenn Phillips (34), and Michael Bracewell (53*). In response, India successfully chased down the target in 49 overs, thanks to impressive performances by Rohit Sharma (76), Shreyas Iyer (48), and KL Rahul (34*).

Following the final, Virat Kohli emphasized the significance of teamwork in securing championships. Sharing his thoughts on the victory, he stated:
