Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer’s sister Shresta, shared a funny reel on Instagram after their IPL 2026 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens was washed out on Monday, April 7. Since the match couldn’t be completed, both teams got one point each.
In the video, Shresta jokingly said that kind-hearted Punjabis “gifted” one point to KKR. It’s interesting to note that KKR had won the IPL 2024 title under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy. However, the team released him before the IPL 2025 mega auction, where Punjab bought him for a huge ₹26.75 crore.
She said this before starting a dance step:
“Saade Punjabiya ta dil na, vadda hunda hai. Lo, deta ek point. (We Punjabis are big-hearted. So, we gave you a point)”

Punjab Kings (PBKS) moved to the top of the IPL 2026 points table after the match was washed out. They now have five points and a net run rate of 0.637 from three matches. They started their season with wins against Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opened their account with one point from this match. Before this, they had lost two games in a row against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). The three-time champions are currently in eighth place with a net run rate of -1.964.
KKR rocked early with two wickets before the rain stopped the game
Ajinkya Rahane won the toss for KKR and decided to bat first. This surprised many people because rain was expected. KKR didn’t start well and lost two early wickets.
Fast bowler Xavier Bartlett gave PBKS a strong start by taking two wickets in the second over. He troubled opener Finn Allen with his swinging deliveries and finally got him out on the fourth ball. Allen was caught behind after scoring 6 runs from 7 balls.
Bartlett struck again on the last ball of the same over, dismissing Cameron Green for just 4 runs off 2 balls. Green edged the ball to wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh. KKR were struggling at 25/2 in 3.4 overs when rain stopped the match.
