[WATCH] Marco Jansen Dismisses MI Cape Town Captain Rashid Khan For 28 Runs In A Single Over

With his pace and accuracy, Marco Jansen is known for perplexing batters. But it was his brisk knock with the bat that helped the Sunrisers Eastern Cape register a hard-fought two-wicket win over the MI Cape Town in Match 12 of the SA20 2023 on Wednesday, January 18 at Newlands, Cape Town.

However, his counter-attacking knock was highlighted by him smashing MI Cape Town skipper and seasoned leggie Rashid Khan for 28 runs in an over. It completely changes the game’s complexion and ultimately helps the Sunrisers snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

When Marco Jansen unleashed his batting prowess, the game was turned on its head. In the final five overs, it could have gone either way. MI recognised the need for quick wickets. Rashid Khan, the skipper of Cape Town, took the initiative to bowl the 16th over, but Jansen ensured that it was a failed move by making his bat do the talking right from the start.

Marco Jansen and his sublime form:

Jansen struck Rashid for a six to reduce the equation to 61 runs off 29 deliveries. Despite being a long way from the target and having already lost six wickets, the Proteas pacer displayed fearless intent.

As the saying goes, “Fortune favours the brave,” and Marco Jansen was rewarded for his brave batting approach. He was extremely fortunate with the next ball, which took a big outside edge of his bat and raced away for four with no slip in place. On the third delivery, the batter boldly advanced down the track, successfully clearing the boundary and scoring six more runs.

The tail-ender showed no remorse, taking the Afghan spin icon to the cleaners with two consecutive maximums to reduce the equation to 39 runs from 24 balls, forcing MI Cape Town captain Rashid Khan to reconsider his strategy.
