[WATCH]- MI Legend Joins Mumbai Indians As Batting Coach For IPL 2025

Mumbai Indians’ batting coach, Kieron Pollard, arrived at their camp on Wednesday, March 12, ahead of IPL 2025. The franchise shared a video of his arrival on social media platform X. The towering West Indian was seen sporting a white T-shirt, black pants, and stylish shoes.

A formidable all-rounder in T20 cricket, Kieron Pollard joined the Mumbai-based franchise in 2010 and played a crucial role in their five IPL title victories in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.

He was named Player of the Match in the 2013 final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he hammered a 32-ball 60 to help MI post a competitive total of 148 in 20 overs. Mumbai Indians (MI) ultimately secured their maiden title with a 23-run win.

The Trinidadian is the second-most capped player for Mumbai Indians, having played 211 matches. He has amassed 3,915 runs at an average of 28.78 and an impressive strike rate of 147.01. Known for his athleticism, Pollard has also taken 113 stunning catches throughout his IPL career. Following the 2022 season, he transitioned into the role of MI’s batting coach.

Mumbai Indians look to bounce back after a disappointing IPL 2024

The five-time champions will be eager to stage a strong and determined comeback in the IPL 2025 season after a disappointing 2024 season, where they finished at the bottom of the table with just four wins in 14 matches.

Despite the underwhelming performance, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been retained as captain, while Mahela Jayawardene has returned as head coach, replacing Mark Boucher. The franchise will draw confidence from the stellar performances of Pandya and Rohit Sharma in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy victory.

Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to make his return after missing the tournament. Mumbai Indians will kick off their campaign against CSK on March 23 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
