AUS vs WI: [WATCH] Mitchell Starc’s Toe Crusher Forces Shamar Joseph To Retire Hurt

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc put West Indies cricketer Shamar Joseph in some trouble during the second Test match on Saturday, 27 January at The Gabba in Brisbane. The youngster had to retire hurt after being struck in the foot by Mitchell Starc.

The incident took place during the second innings in the seventy-third over. Mitchell Starc bowled a toe-crushing yorker to Shamar Joseph on the leg stump. The West Indies cricketer was hit right on the front of the toe. He winced straight away and was in a lot of pain. He seemed to be out, however, was saved as Starc overstepped.

Shamar Joseph was in a lot of trouble and was struggling to ground his foot. The physio came onto the ground and took the batter off the ground. West Indies innings came to an end as the youngster limped off the ground, scoring three runs from fourteen deliveries.

Australia needs 216 to whitewash the Test series

West Indies managed to set Australia a target of 216 runs in the second Test at The Gabba in Brisbane before Shamar Joseph retired hurt. They score 193 runs in the second innings, with Kirk McKenzie ending as the top scorer with 41 runs. Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon took three wickets each in the innings.

Earlier in the match, West Indies put on 311 runs, batting first after winning the toss. Kavem Hodge, Joshua Da Silva, and Kevin Sinclair slammed the fifties each in the innings, taking them past the 300-run mark. Meanwhile, Mitchell Starc took four wickets for the hosts in the innings. In response, Australia declared their innings on 289 runs, handing the West Indies a 22-run first-innings lead. Usman Khawaja was the top scorer for Australia with 75 runs, while Alzari Joseph was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets.
