[WATCH]- MLC 2025: Trent Boult’s Bat Mishap Results In Bizarre Run-Out Moment

MI New York fast bowler Trent Boult was dismissed unusually and bizarrely during their MLC 2025 season opener against Texas Super Kings at the Oakland Coliseum in California on Friday, June 13. The incident occurred in the 19th over of MI New York’s unsuccessful chase.

On the third delivery of the over, Tajinder Dhillon steered a length ball from Adam Milne towards the third-man region. The pair completed the first run comfortably and attempted a second. But as Trent Boult approached the crease at the striker’s end, he accidentally dropped his bat. He awkwardly hopped near the crease trying to recover, but was eventually run out.

Texas Super Kings began their MLC 2025 season with a nail-biting three-run victory against MI New York. Chasing a target of 186, Nicholas Pooran’s side fell just short, ending their innings at 182/8 in 20 overs.

Daryl Mitchell’s Last-Over Heroics Lift Texas Super Kings To Narrow Win

Texas Super Kings, after being asked to bat first, put up 185/6 in their 20 overs. Opener Devon Conway played a composed knock, scoring 65 runs off 44 balls, while Calvin Savage remained unbeaten with a valuable 53 from 34 deliveries. For MI New York, Michael Bracewell was the most successful bowler with two wickets.

Ehsan Adil, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Sunny Patel picked up one wicket each to keep things in check. During the chase, Monank Patel starred with the bat, top-scoring with a 62-run knock off 44 deliveries. Michael Bracewell added 38 from 21 balls, and captain Kieron Pollard chipped in with a brisk 32 off just 16.

MI New York needed nine runs in the final over, but Daryl Mitchell bowled with excellent control under pressure, conceding just five runs and securing a tight win for Texas Super Kings. With the win, Texas now sit second on the MLC 2025 points table, while MI New York are placed just behind them in third spot.
