[WATCH] Mohammad Amir Responds To ‘Fixer’ Taunts From Pakistan Crowd With Fiery Retort

Mohammad Amir, once hailed as a prodigious talent in Pakistan’s cricketing realm, saw his promising career trajectory derailed by a notorious off-field debacle. At his emergence, Amir’s left-arm fast bowling prowess captured attention, propelling him swiftly through the ranks of the cricketing world.

However, his ascent was abruptly interrupted by a damning incident in 2010, when he was embroiled in a spot-fixing scandal that resulted in a five-year ban from the sport. This ordeal culminated in a brief stint behind bars, casting a shadow over his professional standing.

Nevertheless, Amir exhibited resilience and made a commendable return to the cricketing arena in 2015, subsequently donning the national colors once more in the following year. Despite these feats, he opted to bid adieu to Test cricket in 2019 and retired from other forms of international play in 2020. Despite stepping away from the international scene, Amir remains active in various franchise cricket leagues, showcasing his enduring passion for the sport.

However, the specter of the spot-fixing controversy continues to loom over Amir’s career, as evidenced by a recent viral video capturing spectators branding him with the derogatory label of “fixer” during a Pakistan Super League match. In response, Amir defiantly rebuked the taunts, questioning the morality behind such accusations with the retort, “Ghar se ye seekhke aate ho (do you learn such things from home)?”

Despite striving to move past the tarnish of his past transgressions, Amir found himself embroiled in a fresh controversy when he alleged misconduct by the Deputy Commissioner of Multan, who purportedly mistreated his family and unjustly expelled them from the stadium during a match. Taking to social media to air his grievances, Amir called upon the authorities, including the Chief Minister of Punjab province, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to intervene and address the injustice.

Amir posted on Twitter: “Shocked by the unacceptable behavior of the Deputy Commissioner of Multan, who reportedly mistreated my family, arrogantly claiming ownership of the ground & unjustly ejecting them during a match. This abuse of power is intolerable! Urging authorities for immediate action.”

“I am highly grateful for the chief minister’s @MaryamNSharif attention to my matter and for taking out the precious time to call me. All misunderstanding has been cleared by Deputy Commissioner Multan himself , I sincerely appreciate it and extend my best wishes to you as you embark on your new journey.”

A day later, Amir provided an update on the unfolding situation, indicating his resolve to seek redress for the purported mistreatment of his family. This incident underscores the complexities and challenges that continue to punctuate Amir’s journey, as he navigates the tumultuous terrain of professional cricket amidst the lingering echoes of past controversies and the emergence of new hurdles.
