Pacer Mohammed Shami provided India with their first breakthrough in the 2025 Champions Trophy semi-final against Australia on Tuesday, March 4, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium by dismissing Cooper Connolly.
The wicket fell on the final ball of the third over of Australia’s innings. Shami had troubled Connolly throughout the over, repeatedly beating his bat. His persistence paid off on the last delivery when he bowled a length ball outside off. Connolly attempted a cut shot but only managed an under-edge, which wicketkeeper KL Rahul safely collected.
Initially, the on-field umpire did not give it out, prompting India to take a review. UltraEdge confirmed the edge, leading to the decision being overturned and Connolly being sent back to the pavilion. You can watch the video here:

Shami Strikes Early as Head Fires in IND vs AUS Champions Trophy Semifinal

Head found his rhythm in the fourth over, striking Hardik Pandya for a four and a six. He then took on Shami in the next over, smashing three consecutive boundaries. At the latest update, Australia were 36/1 after six overs, with Head on 28 and Smith on 3.
