A 24-year-old whose origins could be traced back to Malappuram, Kerala, rose to fame on a Sunday that fell on March 23 because that was the day he made his mark with the Mumbai Indians by debuting against the Chennai Super Kings during one of the much-awaited IPL fixtures in Chennai.

By a miracle, although Vignesh had yet to make his debut on the Kerala senior team in domestic cricket, he was already seen bowling to a well-set Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra as he was doing his left-arm wrist spin-a rarity in world cricket. On debut, he put on his show by securing three wickets to keep Mumbai in the hunt while defending a low total of 155.

The young bowler was absolutely fearless in flighting the ball, earning handsome returns by deceiving a well-placed Ruturaj Gaikwad, and the big-hitting duo of Shivam Dube and Deepak Hooda-the two finest players of spin.

Vignesh’s impressive debut had left the cricketing fraternity in shock, with many experts tipping him as the next future star of the Indian sport. If we speak of promising left-arm wrist spinners and strike judging by the fearless approach to playing his game, Vignesh Puthur is anyways a talent to watch out for in the world of cricket.
