In an intense IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant shared a comical moment with his former teammate, Kuldeep Yadav. This match was particularly significant for Pant, as he was leading LSG for the first time, and that too against his former team. Despite LSG suffering a narrow one-wicket defeat, Pant maintained his energetic spirit on the field.
During DC’s chase of 210 runs, Pant and Kuldeep engaged in a playful exchange that left commentators and fans in splits. The amusing incident occurred in the 18th over when DC needed 39 runs from 17 balls. As Kuldeep attempted to cut Ravi Bishnoi’s delivery off the back foot, he got an under-edge. Pant collected the ball and, in a humorous move, playfully pushed Kuldeep to the ground before dislodging the bails. This unexpected act quickly went viral on social media, with fans enjoying Pant’s lighthearted approach in a high-pressure match.

DC’s Thrilling Chase and Pant’s Missed Opportunity
Although LSG set a daunting 210-run target, DC found themselves struggling at 65/5. However, impact substitute Ashutosh Sharma turned the game around with a stunning unbeaten 66 off 31 balls, leading DC to a last-over victory with three balls and one wicket to spare. His fearless batting performance was crucial in rescuing DC from a difficult situation.

On the other hand, Pant had a chance to make a difference behind the stumps during a decisive moment but failed to capitalize. He missed a stumping opportunity against Mohit and later used the Decision Review System (DRS) for an LBW appeal. Unfortunately for LSG, the review revealed that the ball had missed the stumps, allowing DC to continue their chase unharmed.
Sunil Gavaskar’s Support for Pant
Following LSG’s loss, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar expressed his confidence in Pant’s ability to bounce back. Gavaskar noted that despite getting out for a six-ball duck in his debut match for LSG, Pant remains an intelligent cricketer who learns from his mistakes. He emphasized that Pant himself acknowledged in the post-match interview that setbacks often provide valuable lessons for improvement.
With 13 more matches left in the tournament, Gavaskar believes Pant will refine his batting and leadership skills. He further highlighted that a captain’s performance with the bat or ball directly influences their confidence in making tactical decisions. Once Pant finds his form, his captaincy is expected to become more assured, strengthening LSG’s campaign in IPL 2025.
