Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni shared a hearty laugh as a mimicry artist performed an imitation of him at an event ahead of the IPL 2026 season. The performer recreated the legendary wicketkeeper’s iconic shots and career highlights.
At the conclusion of the act, the artist thanked Dhoni for giving him the chance to perform in front of the cricketing icon. Clearly impressed, Dhoni applauded the mimicry, appreciating the effort. A video of the performance can be seen on the Instagram handle shaarang_94.

MS Dhoni stands out as one of the most accomplished cricketers in both international cricket and the IPL. The 44-year-old holds the record as India’s and the IPL’s most successful captain in terms of wins. Between 2007 and 2013, he led India to three ICC titles and guided Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to all five of their IPL championships.
In addition to his captaincy, Dhoni is India’s sixth-highest run-scorer in ODIs, amassing 10,599 runs across 347 matches. He is also the IPL’s sixth all-time leading run-scorer, with 5,439 runs from 278 games. Beyond batting and leadership, Dhoni ranks third in all-time international wicketkeeping dismissals, with 829 in 538 matches.
MS Dhoni Set To Return To Action In IPL 2026
MS Dhoni is set to return for his 19th IPL season when the 2026 edition kicks off following the T20 World Cup in India. Although he retired from international cricket in 2020, the veteran wicketkeeper has remained a consistent presence in the IPL. After leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their fifth IPL title in 2023, Dhoni handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 season.
However, CSK has struggled in recent years, enduring consecutive disappointing seasons in 2024 and 2025. After missing the playoffs in 2024, the Men in Yellow finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in their otherwise illustrious IPL history in 2025. Dhoni stepped in to lead the side for most of the 2025 campaign after Gaikwad was sidelined with an injury just five games into the season.
The legendary captain himself had a below-par 2025 IPL, scoring at an average of under 25 with a strike rate of 135.17 across 14 matches.
