Indian women’s cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues was spotted singing a popular Bollywood number while strumming a guitar at a glitzy event in Mumbai on Monday, January 5. A video circulating on social media shows Rodrigues, dressed in a chic outfit, performing a song from the 2005 film Iqbal.
The Mumbai-born star was instrumental in India’s landmark Women’s World Cup triumph in 2025, where they secured the title with a 52-run win over South Africa in the final. The right-handed batter scored 292 runs across eight matches in the tournament, highlighted by a magnificent unbeaten 127 against Australia in the semifinal at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The 25-year-old also contributed 24 runs in the title clash against South Africa. Here is the video of Rodrigues singing the iconic song from Iqbal:

After India’s World Cup triumph, Rodrigues also posted a video message for former India opener Sunil Gavaskar, playfully reminding the cricketing great of his promise to sing with her.

Meanwhile, the young batter amassed 104 runs across three matches in India’s recent 5–0 T20I series sweep against Sri Lanka. Rodrigues will next feature in the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL), which gets underway on January 9. She has been named Delhi Capitals’ captain, taking over the leadership role from Meg Lanning.
Speaking about her appointment, Jamimah Rodrigues said, as quoted on the franchise’s official website:
“It is an absolute honour to be named captain of the Delhi Capitals, and I am deeply grateful to the owners and the support staff for placing their faith in me to lead this team. It has truly been a dream year for me and my family, winning the World Cup and now being entrusted with this wonderful opportunity at a franchise that has held a very special place in my heart since the very first season of the WPL.”
“I have learned so much over the last three years and have shared some of my best moments with the Delhi Capitals. This team is my family.”
