Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepika TC Mark Historic Moment For Indian Cricket

Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepika TC have been central to India’s historic World Cup successes over the past two years. He guided the men’s team to their second T20 World Cup title with a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the 2024 final in Barbados. Virat Kohli top-scored with 76 in the decider, while the triumph also brought an end to India’s 11-year wait for an ICC trophy.

It marked India’s second T20 World Cup crown, coming 17 years after their maiden triumph in 2007. The Men in Blue are set to begin their title defence at home next month under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav. Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur led the Indian women’s side to their first-ever ICC title in 2025.

After eliminating Australia in the semifinal, India went on to defeat South Africa by 52 runs in the final. Shafali Verma (87 runs and two wickets) and Deepti Sharma (58 runs and figures of 5/39) delivered standout all-round performances for the Women in Blue, who will now aim to impress again at the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.

In the blind women’s category, Deepika TC’s side clinched the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup, beating Nepal by seven wickets while chasing 115. The men’s team will next feature in the home white-ball series against New Zealand, starting January 11, while the women’s players will turn their focus to the 2026 Women’s Premier League, which begins on January 9.
