Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis and Afghanistan’s top-ranked ODI all-rounder, Azmatullah Omarzai, have arrived at the Punjab Kings (PBKS) camp ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). The highly anticipated 18th season of the tournament kicks off on March 22.

Both players were last seen in action during the 2025 Champions Trophy. Inglis played three matches, scoring 131 runs in two innings, including a century. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Afghan all-rounder amassed 126 runs in three innings, including a half-century, and took seven wickets, featuring a five-wicket haul.

With IPL 2025 set to begin on Saturday, March 22, PBKS welcomed both players to their camp and shared a clip on their X account.

Shreyas Iyer appointed as Punjab Kings captain for IPL 2025

Punjab Kings (PBKS), still in pursuit of their maiden IPL title, will be led by Shreyas Iyer in the 2025 season. After guiding Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory in 2024, Iyer chose to move on from the franchise.

The elegant Indian batter was acquired by PBKS for INR 26.75 crore in the 2025 mega auction, making him the second-most expensive player in IPL history, just behind Rishabh Pant (INR 27 crore). Ahead of the tournament, the 30-year-old also shared his preference to bat at No. 3, stating [as quoted by ESPNcricinfo]:

“We already know that IPL is an integral part of Indian cricket. And If I would want to mark myself at some position in T20, it would be No. 3. And that’s what I’m focusing at.”

”I wouldn’t say that we are planning and thinking about what number I will be batting. This time I’m quite clear about that position. And I’m going to be focusing on that number. As long as the coach approves of me.”

Meanwhile, Punjab Kings will begin their 2025 campaign on March 25 against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
