Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Phil Salt pulled off a शानदार one-handed catch to bring an end to Ishan Kishan’s explosive innings during the IPL 2026 opener against SunRisers Hyderabad at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, March 28.
Kishan fell short of a deserved century, scoring a blistering 80 off just 38 balls, including five sixes and eight fours. His dismissal helped RCB bring SRH down to 155/6. The breakthrough came in the 16th over of SRH’s innings when Abhinandan Singh delivered a full toss outside off.
Kishan tried to guide it with an open bat face, but ended up slicing it high in the air. The ball was heading wide of Salt, who sprinted and dived full stretch to his right, completing a stunning one-handed grab. The wicket also marked redemption for Abhinandan, who had been hit for a six on the previous ball.

It was Phil Salt’s third catch of the match, having earlier dismissed Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen, with the latter sparking some controversy. He will now aim to make an impact with the bat as well.
Ishan Kishan, Aniket Verma Guide SunRisers Hyderabad To Strong Target In IPL 2026 Opener
SunRisers Hyderabad captain Ishan Kishan stepped up with a captain’s knock after early setbacks, as openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were dismissed cheaply in the IPL 2026 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Later, Aniket Verma provided a strong late boost with a brisk 43 off just 18 deliveries, smashing four sixes and three fours.
Heinrich Klaasen also contributed a handy 31 off 22 balls, helping SRH post 201/9 in their 20 overs. For RCB, debutant Jacob Duffy impressed with the ball, picking up 3/22 in his four overs. Romario Shepherd also claimed three wickets, though he was expensive, conceding 54 runs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Abhinandan Singh, and Suyash Sharma chipped in with one wicket each. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru will now aim to chase down the target and kick off their 2026 campaign on a winning note.
Meanwhile, the SunRisers Hyderabad side, missing Pat Cummins, will need a strong bowling performance on the batting-friendly surface at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
