[WATCH]- R. Ashwin Shuts Down Discussion On MS Dhoni Amid YouTube Controversy During IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin cut off a panelist who attempted to discuss captain MS Dhoni during a show on his YouTube channel, following the IPL 2025 season. This incident occurred shortly after Ashwin had announced that his channel would no longer cover previews and reviews of CSK matches.

This decision followed controversies sparked by earlier discussions about CSK during the tournament, which led to fan backlash. However, in the most recent episode on April 18, one of the panelists mentioned CSK’s recent victory over the Lucknow Super Giants and praised Dhoni’s performance.

“I’m so happy that you won the match. Ashwin, the only thing is that you’ve led the team a lot. The team that you’ve led has won the TNPL. What I feel is that leadership is very, very important. That leader is someone like Sanju, someone like Shreyas Iyer, someone like Thala Dhoni,” the panelist said.

Ashwin quickly interrupted the panelist when he mentioned Dhoni, saying:

“Sshhh. Ssshhhh. I’ve never spoken about my team in RR as well.”

The controversy started when a panelist on Ashwin’s YouTube channel questioned CSK’s acquisition of Noor Ahmad despite having Jadeja and Ashwin. This prompted Ashwin to release a statement on behalf of his channel, (as reported by Hindustan Times):

“Given the nature of the discussions on this forum over the last week, we want to be mindful of how things can be interpreted and have chosen to step away from covering CSK games, both previews and reviews, for the rest of this season. The views expressed by our guests do not reflect Ashwin’s personal opinions. We appreciate all those who engage thoughtfully with the spirit of the show.”

R. Ashwin Excluded from CSK’s Latest IPL 2025 Match

Ravichandran Ashwin was unexpectedly omitted from CSK’s IPL 2025 match against LSG on April 14. The 38-year-old had been a major acquisition for the franchise at ₹9.75 crores during the mega auction. However, Ashwin struggled in CSK’s first six games, taking just five wickets at an average of 39.60 and an economy rate close to 10.

To make matters worse, CSK endured their longest losing streak of the season, with five consecutive defeats during this period. With powerplay bowling becoming a concern, CSK opted to bring in right-arm pacer Anshul Kamboj to replace Ashwin in the lineup.
