Rahul Tewatia once again stepped up to the job, hitting two sixes off the last two balls to hand Gujarat Titans (GT) a thrilling victory against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday. The ace all-rounder is known for playing blinders and he did it once again for his side.
The game boiled down to the last over with 20 runs required for Hardik Pandya and Co. to win the game. Odean Smith started impressively giving only six runs in the first three balls. The game boiled down to 13 needed off the final three deliveries.
Smith bowled a terrific ball but an error in judgement from the bowler cost Punjab an overthrow run off the fourth ball, which brought Rahul Tewatia to the strike. And the southpaw struck two massive sixes in the remaining two balls to take Gujarat Titans home, leaving everyone shell-shocked including captain Hardik.
Tewatia once again came back to haunt Punjab. It was not long ago he struck five sixes off Sheldon Cottrell to help Rajasthan Royals chase down 224 runs in IPL 2022. This knock earned him fame after several years of hard work.
Rahul Tewatia turned the clock against and another West Indies bowler was at the receiving end of his wrath.

Meanwhile, it was Shubman Gill, who kept Gujarat Titans in the hunt with a fine knock of 96 runs. He and debutant Sai Sudharsan added 101 runs for the second wicket before Rahul Tewatia unleashed a carnage to seal the deal.
“There wasn’t a lot to think in the final over” – Rahul Tewatia
The veteran all-rounder was short of his words after another match-winning knock. Rahul Tewatia revealed that he knew the last ball will fly out of the ground as he timed the ball from the middle of the bat.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Tewatia said:
“It feels good when the game is won. There wasn’t a lot to think in the final over, we just had to hit sixes and that’s what me and David (Miller) were talking about. I knew (on the last-ball six) that it had gone off the middle of the bat, so it would clear the fence. I did premeditate, felt he (Odean) bowl wide outside off to me, premeditated and it executed well for me.”
