Young batting prodigy Shubman Gill produced the catch of IPL 2022 so far to dismiss Even Lewis on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium. He ran back almost 15 yards to grab it over the shoulders.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans have made an outstanding start to their IPL journey against the other debutant Lucknow Super Giants. Veteran seamer Mohammed Shami ran down the Lucknow batting after Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first.

The Bengal quick dismissed skipper KL Rahul for a golden duck of the first ball of the match with a stunning delivery. He backed it up with another cracker to knock off Quinton de Kock to send both the openers packing.

Varun Aaron also joined the proceedings as he dismissed Even Lewis with a bouncer. It was pitched short outside the off-stump, and Lewis rocked back to pull and skies it.

Shubman Gill produced the catch of the season so far running back from mid-wicket, Gill does the same, keeping his eyes on it, taking it over his shoulders similar to how Kapil Dev took that unforgettable catch in the 1983 World Cup final.

It was not an easy catch to judge but Shubman Gill took it two-handed with ease.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami continued to shed fire from the other end. This time he unrattled Manish Pandey’s off-stump with a brilliant in-swinger cutting him into half.

Gujarat Titans continued to put Lucknow Super Giants under pressure with Lockie Ferguson racking up some good pace. At the end of eight overs, they are placed at 36/4.
