Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are currently facing each other in Match 4 of TATA IPL 2022. GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first at Wankhede Stadium.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami looked in great rhythm as he dismissed Lucknow skipper KL Rahul in the first ball of the match. The ball took an outside edge to hand an easy catch to wicketkeeper Matthew Wade.

In his second over, Mohammed Shami produced another beauty. He bowled a perfect Test match length ball to Quinton de Kock. From round the wicket, the ball angled in and rattled the stumps of the batter.

Mohammed Shami didn’t stop there in the powerplay and picked another wicket in his third over. This time the batter was Manish Pandey. Shami pitched the ball outside off and it seamed in to clip the off-stump.

I keep Shami absolutely on par with Jasprit Bumrah – Ashish Nehra

Ahead of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans’ coach Ashish Nehra had showered praise on Mohammed Shami. Nehra said that Shami is as effective as Jasprit Bumrah. He lauded Shami’s ability to take wickets.

“When it comes to Shami, I keep him absolutely on par with Jasprit Bumrah. Even when you see white-ball cricket, be it in T20 or ODIs, maybe Bumrah’s economy rate is 7.5 and Shami can be 8.2, 8.5, but look at his strike rate. He is a wicket-taker. When you have somebody like Shami and his experience, you cannot ask for anything better.”, Nehra said on ‘Backstage with Boria’.
