[WATCH] RCB Fans Climb Stadium Walls, Damage Cars During Celebrations In Bengaluru

A massive crowd of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans assembled outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday to take part in the team’s IPL title celebration. Unfortunately, the joyous occasion took a tragic turn when a stampede led to the loss of 11 lives and left many others injured.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association had organized a special ceremony at the stadium to honour the RCB players. However, the excitement soon spiraled out of control as several individuals were seen scaling walls and fences in an attempt to get inside.

Despite heavy security, the sheer size of the crowd made it nearly impossible to manage the situation.

A car was damaged when enthusiastic fans climbed onto it outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium while trying to catch a glimpse of their IPL-winning team.

Inside the stadium, RCB players were honored amid loud chants and cheers from fans who had gathered hours in advance. The victory parade turned into a city-wide celebration for loyal supporters. Outside, despite police efforts to manage the massive crowd, the situation soon spiraled out of control.

Thousands of RCB fans flocked to the stadium well before the event began, eager for a chance to see their champion team up close. With entry points overcrowded, several supporters resorted to climbing walls and fences in a frantic attempt to get inside. Describing the mayhem outside the venue, one fan shared:

“Inside, the seats are all full and that’s why they are not letting us go in. We want to go back but are not allowed. The gates are crowded with people — even if they open them, people will rush in. A lot of people have been injured…”

Responding to the tragic incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah conveyed his heartfelt condolences in a message shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“It is with great shock that we heard the news that several people lost their lives and others were seriously injured in a stampede during the RCB team’s victory celebrations… The pain of this tragedy has even erased the joy of victory,” he said.

The Chief Minister stated that, due to safety concerns, officials had previously ruled out holding a full-scale victory parade. However, the unexpected surge of fans around the stadium resulted in a tragic and unanticipated stampede.
