Team India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah shared a humorous exchange with a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporter in Ahmedabad. The incident occurred as he was leaving the Gujarat College Ground following a practice session on Tuesday, January 6. A fan, clad in an RCB jersey and track pants, approached the 32-year-old requesting an autograph.
Bumrah jokingly remarked that he thought the fan had come to support the Karnataka team, who were competing against Rajasthan in the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. The fan clarified that he was actually waiting for Bumrah himself, not the Karnataka side. The fast bowler eventually signed the supporter’s RCB jersey and posed for selfies.
While signing the jersey, he remarked:
“RCB, Karnataka ke liye khade ho aap?.”

On the cricketing side, Bumrah has been rested for India’s forthcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand at home. He is expected to return to action in the subsequent five-match T20I series against the Blackcaps, starting on January 21.
“You still have Bumrah and Arshdeep”- AB de Villiers on India missing pacers
Jasprit Bumrah is set to spearhead India’s pace attack in the 2026 T20 World Cup, with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana also included in the squad. Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers feels Mohammed Siraj was unfortunate to miss out on the team for the tournament. Commenting on the omission, he said on his YouTube channel:
“We see Siraj in the ODI squad, he is one of the unlucky guys to miss out. But that is once again down to the balance. You have got Bumrah and Arshdeep. Harshit can hold the bat as well. So there are your three seamers. I think that is the reason why you went for Harshit because Siraj is only an outright bowler, and they do not want to focus too much on seam bowling.”
“The focus is on the spinners. If they get wickets with the seamers upfront, they almost see it as a bonus in a way. So Siraj is unlucky but at least he is in the ODI plans moving forward for the 2027 World Cup.”
