Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting was in splits after Lalit Yadav stunned Sunil Narine with a brilliant delivery during their game against Kolkata Knight Riders, yesterday night. Lalit, who replaced Amit Mishra in the playing XI, had a decent outing returning with two wickets shelling away just 13 runs from his three overs.

Kolkata got off to a flying start thanks to Shubman Gill. They were cruising through at 69 for one before a mini-collapse followed. Sunil Narine’s dismissal occurred in the 11th over and shortly after Eoin Morgan perished for a duck. Lalit Yadav pitched it at the good length as Narine tried to play a cover drive. The ball spun an inch to beat the Caribbean batter and rattled his timber.

The Delhi Capitals dugout was brimming with joy as they made a stunning comeback in the game. Head coach Ricky Ponting who often unleashes some interesting reactions seemed stunned by the dismissal and came up with a hilarious reaction. Soon after that, wickets tumbled on and Kolkata Knight Riders could only muster 154 runs from their quota of 20 overs.

Chasing 155 runs, Prithvi Shaw set the run chase on fire hitting six fours in an over off Shivam Mavi in the first over. Since then, Prithvi was all over the heist while Shikhar Dhawan played a second fiddle. The youngster just blew KKR away with some really attractive strokeplay, punishing both pace and spin alike. Eoin Morgan’s tactics were under the scanner considering he brought Pat Cummins so late despite Shaw’s problem against short pitch deliveries.

Full credit to Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw set the platform adding 132 runs for the first wicket before Marcus Stoinis took the side home. Delhi Capitals are currently placed second in the IPL 2021 points table after Chennai Super Kings.
