Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and England opener Ben Duckett shared a light-hearted exchange on Day 3 of the third Test at Lord’s on Saturday. As Pant geared up to face Chris Woakes, Duckett jokingly asked if he was playing for a draw. In a quick-witted response, Pant asked if it looked like he was batting like Duckett.
Despite carrying a finger injury, Pant was scoring briskly, which made the banter all the more amusing. The exchange took place during one of Woakes’ overs, adding a touch of humour to an intense session of play. The Nottinghamshire opener asked:
“Just batting for the draw?”
The 27-year-old responded:
“Me?”
The Englishman then asked:
“Yeah?”
Rishabh Pant fired back at Ben Duckett, stating:
“Same like you?”
The left-hander added:
“Same like me bro.”
The Uttarakhand-born cricketer chuckled and asked:
“Same like you?”
The 30-year-old concluded their chat, saying:
“Yeah! That’s me playing on Day 1.”

The promising youngster was heading toward a well-deserved century on Day 3 at Lord’s. However, he needlessly sacrificed his wicket by attempting a dangerous single, leading to a run-out right before the lunch break. A precise throw from Ben Stokes at the non-striker’s end ended his innings at 74.
Rishabh Pant And KL Rahul Steady India To Deny England A Lead
Though the explosive southpaw fell short of a century, his innings was exceptional. His 141-run stand with KL Rahul laid a strong foundation for India to match England’s first-innings total of 387. Rahul, who notched up his second hundred of the series, finished as India’s highest scorer with exactly 100.
Ravindra Jadeja also made a significant impact, scoring a composed 72 off 131 deliveries. The all-rounder stitched a vital 72-run partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy after India stumbled to 254/5. Among the English bowlers, Chris Woakes was the most successful with three wickets, while Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes chipped in with two each.
Heading into Day 4, England hold a slender 2-run lead, following a dramatic final over by Jasprit Bumrah.
