“He will play in the IPL next season”- Sourav Ganguly’s thoughts on Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals
Sourav Ganguly, the Cricket Director of Delhi Capitals, shared a promising update on Rishabh Pant’s recovery, stating that the left-hander will participate in IPL 2024. Pant visited Kolkata to plan with the Delhi Capitals support staff for the upcoming auction. Ganguly joined him during the training camp at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus ground.
Ganguly, speaking to PTI about Pant’s participation in the next season, remarked: “He’s (Pant) good now. He will play in the IPL next season. Rishabh won’t be practicing here though (at the trials). There’s still time for him to get down to practice. By January (2024), he’ll get even better.”
When inquired about the discussions between him and Pant during the camp, Ganguly mentioned:
“We were talking about the team. He is the captain, so he put in his views regarding the upcoming auction. That’s the reason he has come here, to finalize certain aspects related to the team.”
Delhi Capitals felt the absence of Rishabh Pant in IPL 2023, affecting both batting and leadership. It turned out to be a forgettable season for DC, securing the ninth position in the points table.
