[WATCH] Rohit Sharma Begins Intense Net Sessions Ahead of Australia ODIs

Veteran Indian opener Rohit Sharma has returned to training as he gears up for India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, beginning later this month. The star batter was seen sweating it out in the nets at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, his long-time practice base. A video clip of Rohit batting and fine-tuning his strokes has gone viral on social media, sparking excitement among fans about his comeback.

Having been on a break since India’s triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit appears determined to maintain his fitness and form ahead of the crucial series. His presence in the nets signals a strong intent to make an impact, even as the team transitions into a new leadership phase under Shubman Gill.

Fitness Transformation and Renewed Focus

In recent months, Rohit Sharma has undergone a visible fitness transformation, shedding significant weight and adopting a more athletic frame. His fitness journey reportedly revolves around a “disciplined diet plan focused on nutrient-rich food, reduced carbohydrates, and increased protein intake.”

This renewed focus has not only enhanced his physical conditioning but also inspired younger players to take note of his commitment. While Rohit has stepped away from T20Is and Tests, his return to the ODI setup as a senior batter adds both experience and stability to India’s lineup.

Sources close to the team have noted that Rohit remains as dedicated as ever, saying, “He’s hungry to perform and guide the youngsters through his presence and example.” His training intensity at Shivaji Park reflected the same — long batting stints, running drills, and sharp shot selection exercises.

Eyes Set on Vijay Hazare Trophy and Australia Series

Before the Australia series, Rohit is also expected to participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025, marking a potential return to domestic one-day cricket after nearly seven years. His last VHT appearance came in 2018, where he scored 33 in the quarterfinal* and 17 off 24 in the semifinal.

The BCCI has already confirmed the 15-member squad for the Australia ODIs, featuring Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), Axar Patel, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and others.

The series will kick off on October 19, with matches scheduled in Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney. As the build-up continues, fans are eager to see Rohit’s trademark elegance back in action. His rigorous preparation at Shivaji Park has only heightened the anticipation — a clear reminder that the “Hitman” is not done yet.
