“Like An Elder Brother” – Prithvi Shaw Reacts After Clash With Musheer Khan Ahead Of Ranji Trophy

Maharashtra opener Prithvi Shaw is said to have apologized to Mumbai all-rounder Musheer Khan during the recently concluded red-ball warm-up match at the MCA Stadium in Gahunje. The two cricketers were involved in a heated confrontation during the game. Shaw had smashed a brilliant 181 in Maharashtra’s first innings before being dismissed by Musheer.

Following his dismissal, Shaw appeared frustrated and got into a tense exchange with the 20-year-old. As reported by the Times of India, Shaw later made peace by apologizing to Musheer. Detailing the incident, a source informed the publication:

“Prithvi realized his mistake and approached Musheer and apologized to him. Prithvi told him that, ‘I am like an elder brother to you.’ So all is well between the two.”

Interestingly, Prithvi Shaw had been part of the Mumbai setup for eight years before separating from the team ahead of the new domestic season. He appeared in impressive form during the warm-up game for his new side, Maharashtra.

Musheer Khan allegedly taunted Prithvi Shaw during the practice warm-up match

As per a report by Cricbuzz, Musheer Khan allegedly sledged Prithvi Shaw by saying ‘Thank you’ after taking his wicket. The explosive batter appeared visibly irritated by the remark and walked up to the youngster. A video circulating on social media shows Shaw swinging his bat near Musheer.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra secured the win over Mumbai in the warm-up clash based on a first-innings lead. They are set to begin their Ranji Trophy 2025-26 campaign against Kerala at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on October 15. Shaw will be looking to force his way back into the national selectors’ radar by piling up big scores this season.

He had a dream start to his Test career, smashing 134 on debut against the West Indies in 2018. However, in recent years, the gifted batter has slipped down the selection order. Adding to his challenges, he went unsold in the 2025 Indian Premier League mega auction.
