Team India cricketers led by captain Rohit Sharma gave Virat Kohli a guard of honour on the occasion of the 100th Test milestone on day 2 of the Mohali Test against Sri Lanka. The incident took place when the cricketers were coming out on the field ahead of Sri Lanka’s first innings.
Ravindra Jadeja‘s unbeaten 175 propelled India to 574/8 before Rohit declared the innings. It was Jadeja’s highest Test score and also the highest score ever at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The umpires took tea early after India declared the innings.
Just when the play was about to resume, Rohit Sharma asked all the players to give Virat Kohli a guard of honour to highlight his contribution to the game. The 33-year-old Kohli later acknowledged Rohit’s gesture before they got into the huddle.

“I feel like I am making my debut all over again” – Virat Kohli
Ahead of the Test, Kohli was felicitated by head coach Rahul Dravid in the presence of his wife Anushka Sharma. Speaking about how it felt to reach the milestone, Kohli stated it feels like he is making his debut again.
“I told Rahul bhai, he asked me the morning, ‘How are you feeling?’, and I said I feel like I am making my debut all over again, to be honest. I had butterflies in my stomach,” Kohli said at the end of day 1’s play.
“I didn’t realize the magnitude of the occasion till things got closer to today and how the presentation happened, the ceremony happened and there were people in the stadium today as well. It was a moment which was very, very special and I did feel very nervous walking out before,” he added.
