Watch – Rohit Sharma Gets Run Out After A Complete Mix-Up With Chris Lynn

Mumbai Indians lost their skipper Rohit Sharma thanks to a complete mix-up with Chris Lynn in the first match of IPL 2021 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Mumbai were 24 for 1 and will need a big partnership from Suryakumar Yadav and Lynn to stage the platform for the hitters to come and make most of the death overs.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli finally managed to win a toss and opted to field first. They handed three debut caps – Glenn Maxwell, Rajat Patidar, and Kyle Jamieson while tall and lanky fast bowler from South Africa Marco Jansen and Chris Lynn made their debut for Mumbai Indians.

Rohit Sharma departs after an error of judgment

Rohit Sharma & Co opted for a cautious approach against the new ball focusing more on the singles while the odd boundaries came from both Rohit and Lynn’s bat. They found a couple of boundaries and sixes before Royal Challengers Bangalore got their first breakthrough. A complete mix-up between the two openers resulted in the dismissal of the Mumbai Indians skipper.

It was a slightly short ball just outside off from Yuzvendra Chahal as Chris Lynn mistimes the cut in between two fielders at cover and cover-point. He takes a couple of steps initially, which really sets Rohit Sharma off. But then Lynn backed out. And with Virat Kohli swooping onto the ball, there’s no getting back. The Mumbai Indians skipper was really keen for the single and looked extremely disappointed after Yuzvendra Chahal unrattled the stumps to draw the first blood.

Since the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, Chris Lynn and Suryakumar Yadav have looked in complete control of the things. They found the boundaries quite comfortably while Lynn pounced on for some big hits to stitch a 50-run partnership to set the platform for the batters to follow in the due course of the game.
