Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar rang the iconic bell at Lord’s in London to officially commence the third Test between England and India on Thursday, July 10. He was joined by several dignitaries for the ceremonial moment, which is a longstanding tradition held just before the start of play at the historic ground.
Positioned beside the Lord’s pavilion, the bell has been rung by cricketing greats since 2007, including Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Shane Warne. Interestingly, this marked Tendulkar’s first time performing the ritual at the venue. Fittingly, the current series trophy—named the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy—honors his legacy.

After the event, Tendulkar shared his appreciation on X, where he wrote:
“I first visited Lord’s as a teenager in 1988, and returned in 1989 with the Star Cricket Club team. I remember standing near the pavilion, soaking in the history and dreaming quietly.”
“Today, to have my portrait unveiled at this very place is a feeling that’s hard to put into words. Life has truly come full circle. I’m grateful, and filled with wonderful memories,” he added.
