Pakistan’s Salman Agha pulled off a breathtaking catch to dismiss South Africa’s Matthew Breetzke during their 2025 Tri-Series clash on Wednesday, February 12, at the National Stadium in Karachi. The dismissal took place on the first ball of the 39th over of South Africa’s innings.

Khushdil Shah bowled a flighted delivery outside off, prompting Breetzke to charge down the track and strike it towards cover. Salman dived to his right, stretched out one hand, and, while airborne, grabbed the ball to complete a stunning catch.  You can watch the video here:

The right-handed batter played a brilliant knock of 83 runs off 84 balls, hitting 10 fours and one six, before his dismissal left South Africa at 238-3 after 38.1 overs. Meanwhile, in his debut match against New Zealand, Matthew Breetzke made history by becoming the first-ever batter to score 150 runs on ODI debut. The 26-year-old smashed 150 off 148 deliveries, featuring 11 fours and five sixes.

South Africa Eyes Massive Total Against Pakistan

South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. Skipper Temba Bavuma and Tony de Zorzi provided a steady start, adding 51 runs off 48 balls before Shaheen Afridi dismissed de Zorzi for 22. Bavuma then partnered with Matthew Breetzke to build a strong 119-run stand off 125 deliveries.

However, a mix-up between the wickets led to Bavuma’s unfortunate run-out for 82 off 96 balls. Breetzke, meanwhile, missed out on consecutive centuries, departing for 83. Wiaan Mulder couldn’t make an impact, falling for just two runs, but Heinrich Klaasen has been in superb touch, reaching his half-century in just 38 balls.

At the latest update, South Africa stood at 286-4 after 45 overs, with Klaasen unbeaten on 63 and Kyle Verreynne on 22. The winner of this match will advance to the final against New Zealand on Friday, February 14, in Karachi.
