Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Sam Curran celebrated enthusiastically after scoring his fifty in Match 49 of IPL 2025 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Wednesday, April 30. The thrilling CSK vs PBKS match is being held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
English all-rounder Sam Curran came in after the first wicket fell and played a calm and steady knock. He formed a partnership with Dewald Brevis, and together, they stabilized the innings, capitalizing on loose deliveries. In the 15th over, Azmatullah Omarzai bowled to Curran, who reached his half-century in a stylish manner.
Curran pushed a length delivery straight down the ground and took a couple of quick runs to bring up his fifty. He then celebrated by raising his bat to acknowledge the crowd and his teammates. In a playful gesture, he made a “calling” motion towards the stands, suggesting a personal message behind his celebration. You can watch the video here:

CSK is currently struggling at the bottom of the points table with just two wins in this year’s IPL and is desperate to secure a victory in front of their home crowd. In contrast, PBKS is positioned fifth and is still in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Earlier this season, PBKS defeated CSK by 18 runs in Mullanpur, thanks to a brilliant knock from young left-hander Priyansh Arya, who scored 103 off 42 balls, including seven fours and nine sixes.
Sam Curran played his first IPL match for PBKS in 2019
Sam Curran made his IPL debut in the 2019 season for PBKS, scoring 95 runs and taking 10 wickets in nine matches, including a hat-trick. He then played two seasons with CSK before returning to the Punjab team.
Despite his strong performance with 546 runs and 26 wickets over two seasons, the all-rounder was not retained by CSK. During the IPL 2025 auction, CSK spent INR 2.4 crore to bring Curran back into the squad. As of this season, he has scored 97 runs but has yet to take a wicket.
