[WATCH]- Azmatullah Omarzai Cleans Up Dewald Brevis With Sharp Delivery In CSK vs PBKS IPL 2025 Match

Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai delivered a key breakthrough by removing Dewald Brevis during their IPL 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk on Wednesday, April 30.

The Afghan fast bowler produced an excellent delivery that jagged in sharply and knocked over the stumps, dismissing Brevis for 32 off 26 balls, which included one six and two boundaries. This wicket also ended a 78-run stand between Brevis and Sam Curran.

The breakthrough came in the 15th over of CSK’s innings. Omarzai bowled a good-length delivery outside off that moved in off the pitch. It sneaked past the inside edge and hit the top of off-stump. Dewald Brevis failed to use his footwork effectively and couldn’t make room to deal with the movement, resulting in his dismissal. You can watch the video here:

This marked Azmatullah Omarzai’s first wicket in the IPL, as he had remained wicketless in his earlier outing against Gujarat Titans (GT). On the other hand, Brevis maintained his good form with the bat, following up his impressive 48 off 25 on CSK debut against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Sam Curran Keeps CSK Ahead of PBKS in IPL 2025 Clash

A solid batting performance from Sam Curran kept CSK in a strong position against PBKS, despite early dismissals of openers Shaik Rasheed and Ayush Mhatre. At the time of writing, CSK were 164-4 after 17 overs, with Curran unbeaten on 82 from 44 balls, joined by Shivam Dube.

CSK have won two of their nine matches and are currently at the bottom of the points table. To remain in the hunt for the IPL 2025 playoffs, they must win all their remaining matches. Meanwhile, PBKS have secured five victories in nine matches, including a rain-affected game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where they earned just one point.
