Sarfaraz Khan became the subject of the most discussion in Indian cricket after the 16-person India team for the West Indies tour was revealed. Sarfaraz was passed over for the upcoming Caribbean tour in July despite posting staggering numbers in the red-ball format.
Now, a report claims that Sarfaraz’s lack of selection is due to his lack of fitness as well as his on- and off-field behaviour, according to BCCI sources.
Because of his celebratory gesture to former chief selector Chetan Sharma during a Ranji match, Sarfaraz Khan was disqualified from being included in the Indian test squad. Team India selected four specialist openers and left out Cheteshwar Pujara.
Sarfaraz Khan, a sensation from Mumbai, has been batting brilliantly in the Ranji Trophy and has a Ranji Trophy average above 90 over the past three seasons, which is unthinkable for any batter in competitive cricket.

His conduct on and off the field hasn’t been up to par, according to BCCI sources who spoke to news agency PTI under anonymity. Some remarks made, gestures made, and incidents have been removed from consideration.
Speaking of Sarfaraz’s physical condition, a BCCI source added, “I can say with some degree of certainty that the reason Sarfaraz keeps getting passed over is not a cricketing one… One of the reasons is his fitness, which isn’t exactly of international standard.”
According to a few media reports, Sarfaraz’s celebration of a century against Delhi earlier this year in a Ranji match, where he pointed at chairman of the National Selection panel Chetan Sharma, didn’t go over well.
Sarfaraz pointed a finger at Chetan Sharma, who was watching the game from the stands at Kotla stadium, after that knock was celebrated in the manner of the late singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was known for his signature “pat in the thighs.”
The national selection committee found this annoying. In his 54 first-class innings, Sarfaraz has amassed 13 hundreds. A month-long tour of the West Indies will mark the return of Team India’s international campaign.
