Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson has had a tough Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season so far. As luck would have it, the right-hander was dismissed for a diamond duck on Sunday against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Kane Williamson opened the innings along with Abhishek Sharma. However, on the very first delivery, he had to return back to the pavilion. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell was brought in by Faf Du Plessis to bowl the first over of the innings. Maxwell bowled a short ball outside off stump against Abhishek Sharma, who punched it towards the covers and set off for a run.

However, Shahbaz Ahmed did a great job to collect the ball and direct hit the stumps at the keeper’s end. Williamson who was running towards the danger end, could not manage to get the bat in the crease in time. His bat was on the line, but as the line belongs to the umpire, he had to go back to the hut.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper averages just 19.90 in eleven matches this Indian Premier League season. He has scored 199 runs at a dismal strike rate of 96.13. Williamson’s inability to score runs this season has also hampered Sunrisers’ campaign. They rank sixth on the points table, with ten points from as many matches, and are in a close race for the playoffs spot.

Faf Du Plessis leads from the front to power RCB to 192 runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf Du Plessis slammed an unbeaten 73, off fifty deliveries. His knock included eight boundaries and two sixes. Along with Du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik also chipped in with valuable runs.

Rajat fell short of his fifty by two runs, while Maxwell scored 33 runs off 24 balls. Dinesh Karthik’s 30-runs cameo helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore to reach 192 runs in 20 overs. For the Sunrisers, Jagadeesha Suchith was the pick of the bowlers, with two wickets.

Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost three wickets in nine overs, for 57 runs on the board. Rahul Tripathi is at the crease with Nicholas Pooran.
