Kings XI Punjab have made a blistering start to this high-profile encounter against Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Stadium. Sheldon Cottrell bowled a gem of a delivery to knock of Quinton de Kock’s timber in the first over of the innings to put Punjab ahead.

Both teams came into the game with a lot of hype. Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to field first on a new Dubai wicket and Sheldon Cottrell rewarded him with an early wicket.

Meanwhile, there were speculations that Punjab might drop the West Indian fast bowler in the favour of Chris Jordan. Cottrell went for plenty in the last game including getting hit for five sixes in an over against Rajasthan Royals. But Kings XI Punjab persisted with Sheldon Cottrell and he has delivered the goods in the first over the match.

It hit the good length and did enough to clean Quiton de Kock up, right through everything. The southpaw looked to whip against the outswing and clearly, he was in no position to connect. The gem of the delivery was followed by his trademark salute celebration in the middle of the pitch.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians tried to regroup as Rohit Sharma brought some quick boundaries off Mohammed Shami. Sensing an opportunity, KL Rahul introduced Ravi Bishnoi to attack with two right-handed batsmen in the middle.

However, this time around, a brilliant fielding effort from Shami produced a run out to send in-form Suryakumar Yadav back in the hut. It will now require a monumental effort from Rohit Sharma, who recently joined Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina to score 5000 IPL runs, to keep Mumbai in the game against Kings XI Punjab.
