The third ODI between India and West Indies got underway at the Harare Sports Club on Monday, August 22. Team India has dominated the three-match ODI series so far. They defeated the hosts by 10 wickets in the first match, followed by a five-wickets in the second. An interesting incident took place during the third ODI match when Shikhar Dhawan tried to get off his training jersey, which left the fans in splits.

Indian vice-captain Shikhar Dhawan walked out to open the innings in the third ODI along with skipper KL Rahul. However, he wore Shardul Thakur’s jersey while coming out to bat. One of India’s support staff members immediately ran to the ground to tape the name on the back of Dhawan’s jersey. Interestingly, one of the fans in the crowd carried a placard asking Shikhar Dhawan for his India jersey. The placard read, “Shikhar, Can I have yo’ur’ shirt?”.

The incident took place during the 27th over in the first innings when Dhawan was back in the pavilion. He was sitting in one of the stands with KL Rahul, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Avesh Khan. After showing the placard, the camera also tracked Shikhar Dhawan, who tried to get off his training, gesturing that he is ready to give it to the fan.  The rest of the teammates burst into laughter seeing the left-handed batter’s gesture.

“Get along, Shikhar. Make a donation,” renowned sports presenter and commentator Alan Wilkins said on air.
