[WATCH]- Shivam Dube’s Quick Dismissal Sparks Criticism After Being Picked For The T20 World Cup Team

Shivam Dube, uplifted by recent performances and excitement for the T20 World Cup, faced a crushing blow during the 49th match of IPL 2024. Despite being a key player for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dube’s departure for a golden duck was a bitter disappointment.

The dismissal unfolded dramatically as Dube, renowned for his attacking style, went for a slog sweep but completely missed the ball. The umpire wasted no time in raising his finger, indicating an LBW dismissal.

Despite a review, replays confirmed the unfortunate reality: Dube’s innings had been cut short before it could gain momentum.

CSK’s plan to leverage Dube’s skill against spinners backfired when he succumbed to Brar’s delivery. The frustration was evident as Dube, a pivotal player for CSK, couldn’t influence this vital match.

His dismissal not only dented CSK’s chances in the game but also raised doubts about his form before the T20 World Cup. With the tournament approaching, Dube’s inability to capitalize on this chance increases pressure on both him and the team management.

Shivam Dube shares the advice from Rohit Sharma that inspired him to elevate his performance

Shivam Dube is gearing up for his debut in an ICC tournament as he earns a spot in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, following his impressive performances.

Dube’s exceptional form, particularly as a finisher and his ability to tackle spinners during IPL 2024 with the Chennai Super Kings, coupled with his stellar showing in the T20I series against Afghanistan in January, make him a prime contender for the middle-order position.

On the day when India unveiled their squad for the prestigious T20I event, a video was posted on bcci.tv where the Mumbai all-rounder disclosed the guidance he received from India captain Rohit Sharma during the Afghanistan series. This advice served as additional motivation for him to excel on the field.

“When I came for the Afghanistan series, Rohit bhai told me ‘bowling bhi daalega, batting bhi milega tere ko’ (You’ll bowl and get to bat as well). You just have to show what you are capable of.”

“So that is what I was focussing on, because if the captain tells you that they want to see you perform, it motivates you. When I was playing, all I was thinking about was how I could perform better and help my team,” Dube said in the video posted by the BCCI on Tuesday.
