Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill was seen in a tense exchange with the umpire following a controversial run-out during their IPL 2025 match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
A video circulating on social media captured the moment when the right-handed batter engaged in a heated argument with the official near the boundary line. The incident took place in the 13th over, bowled by leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari.
Gill, who was in excellent form and closing in on a century, saw his partner Jos Buttler flick the ball towards short fine leg. Harshal Patel collected it and, with the stumps behind Heinrich Klaasen, made an instinctive throw without looking. The ball deflected onto the stumps.
Controversy arose over whether the ball struck the stumps directly or deflected off Klaasen’s gloves. Despite the uncertainty, the third umpire ruled the decision in favour of the SunRisers, forcing Shubman Gill to depart after a blistering 76 off 38 deliveries.
