India star Shubman Gill has started getting ready for IPL 2026 while the T20 World Cup is going on. He is not part of India’s squad for the tournament. With the new IPL season starting next month, Gill was spotted training in the Gujarat Titans’ nets as their pre-season camp began.

Wearing the team’s new training kit, he looked in excellent touch with the bat. The right-hander played a wide range of shots, including pulls, cover drives, lofted hits and flicks. He seemed to be timing the ball really well and looked confident and in good rhythm.

GT head coach Ashish Nehra was watching Gill closely from behind during the session. After finishing practice, Gill was also seen chatting with Nehra as they walked off the field.

Gill was left out of India’s T20I team for the New Zealand series after struggling with the bat. He was replaced in the squad by wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who is currently playing in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Shubman Gill Set to Make His IPL 2026 Debut

Shubman Gill was last seen playing for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 against Saurashtra, where he scored 0 and 14 in the two innings.He will next be in action during IPL 2026 for the Gujarat Titans.Gill, who is the team captain and was retained ahead of the auction, played a key role in taking them to the playoffs last year.

He was their top scorer, making 650 runs in 15 innings at an average of 50.00 and a strike rate of 155.87, including six fifties.GT lost the eliminator last season and couldn’t go further in the tournament. Having won their first IPL title in 2022, they will be eager to win again, relying on their captain to lead from the front.

Overall, in his IPL career, Gill has scored 3,866 runs in 118 matches at an average of 39.44 and a strike rate of 138.72, including four centuries and 26 fifties.
