India skipper Shubman Gill showcased sharp fielding skills to dismiss Tagenarine Chanderpaul on Day 3 of the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, October 12. The 26-year-old sprinted quickly and timed his dive perfectly inside the 30-yard circle to complete an excellent catch.

The breakthrough came in the ninth over of West Indies’ second innings, giving Mohammed Siraj his first wicket of the innings. Siraj delivered a cross-seamed ball, and Chanderpaul attempted an aggressive shot but was beaten by the movement.

The ball took a top edge, and Gill reacted swiftly at short mid-wicket to complete the dismissal. Chanderpaul walked back after scoring 10 off 30 deliveries. You can watch the video here:

This marked Mohammed Siraj’s second wicket of the match. The pacer had earlier delivered a standout performance in the first Test against the West Indies, where he claimed seven wickets, including a four-wicket haul.

WI follow on for 248 as India close in on first WTC 2025-27 series win

A dominant bowling effort, spearheaded by Kuldeep Yadav, saw India bowl out the West Indies for 248 in their first innings. The left-arm wrist-spinner registered a brilliant five-wicket haul, while Ravindra Jadeja supported him well with three wickets. For the visitors, Alick Athanaze was the top scorer with 41 off 84 deliveries, with Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Shai Hope adding useful runs in the 30s.

Tevin Imlach, Khary Pierre and Anderson Phillip also chipped in with scores in the 20s. In the second innings, the West Indies were 33/1 after 12 overs. Earlier, India had declared their first innings at a commanding 518/5. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with a superb 175, while captain Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 129 from 196 balls.

Sai Sudharsan further strengthened the total with a composed 87. For the West Indies, Jomel Warrican was the standout bowler, finishing with three wickets. India had already won the opening Test by an innings and 140 runs. A win would seal the series for India and push them to second in the WTC standings, while WI face a fifth straight loss this cycle.
