[WATCH] Star India Batter Returns In Action; Video Goes Viral

Rishabh Pant, Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batter, had been recovering from a car accident and made his much-anticipated return to batting at JSW Vijaynagar. A video of Rishabh Pant‘s batting during a practice session was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by a fan. The video showcased Pant’s exceptional batting skills as he confidently wielded the bat with his characteristic flair and finesse.

Pant had been undergoing a fitness program at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and had started both batting and keeping, as per the BCCI’s update on July 21. This video marked the first time his return to cricket was posted on social media.

Pant’s return to the field was met with excitement from fans as he played some impressive shots, including a lofted shot towards long-off that garnered strong support from the crowd. After undergoing ligament surgery due to injuries sustained in a car crash, Pant’s absence had been strongly felt by the Indian cricket team, especially during the World Test Championship final against Australia.

As the cricketing world shifts its focus to the One Day International (ODI) format and with the World Cup scheduled for later in the year, KL Rahul is expected to take on the role of the primary wicketkeeper-batsman. While Rahul’s experience brings reassurance in Pant’s absence, Ishan Kishan’s presence as the second-choice keeper highlights the team’s depth in keeping talent. Ishan Kishan has shown promise in the recent ODI series against West Indies, scoring half-centuries in all three matches.

While cricket enthusiasts eagerly await Pant’s return, India aims to improve its performance in ICC tournaments, counting on the combined efforts of Rahul and Ishan. Ahead of the World Cup, India is set to participate in the Asia Cup, beginning with a match against Pakistan on September 2. It remains uncertain whether Rahul, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, will be available for the continental tournament.
