As the number of cases increases in India, players are anxiously waiting to get back to intensive training. This COVID19 pandemic has stopped cricket altogether, with rising cases in India we’re unlikely to see restart anytime soon.
Meanwhile, it has been fairly difficult for the players stranded in highly affected places to return to training due to the rising cases in their locality. Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shreyas Iyer, who stay in Mumbai are unable to return to training due to Mumbai being the most affected city in India.
Raina, Pant train in Ghaziabad
However, in the recent past, we saw players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma return to training through social media. Just like them Suresh Raina and Rishabh Pant also returned to training in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. Raina uploaded a video on Instagram’s IGTV and the caption read,
“Work hard, Never Give Up & Get rewarded.”

The eight-minute video gave us glimpses of Suresh Raina and Rishabh Pant train it out in the nets. The duo will be looking to get in good shape if the IPL takes place later this year in place of the World T20. With the Asia cup cancelled, Ganguly had already given the nod for the IPL it’s highly likely that the tournament will take place.
Raina who has been the heart of CSK along with MS Dhoni since 2008 will be looking to prove his mantle for a possible comeback. On the other hand, the management dropped Pant from the limited-overs side in favour of KL Rahul. He will be looking to prove a point to slot back in the side.
The Virat Kohli-led side hasn’t played a single game since BCCI called off the India-South Africa series in wake of the COVID pandemic. Looking at the current scenario we know cricket won’t be returning to India anytime soon. Such that BCCI is now looking to host the IPL outside India with UAE being one of the frontrunners.
