Their innings were critical in making a large target of 215 runs for MI. LSG managed only 161 runs to chase the target as their captain, Rishabh Pant, was all but invisible once again, scoring 4 runs off 2 balls. Pant had lived up to his billing as the most expensive player in the IPL.

Current opener and former MI captain Rohit Sharma presented South African batsman Ryan Rickelton and Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav with the team’s best batter trophy. In the locker room, Rohit Sharma praised Ryan and Surya after awarding them the best batter of the year.

“When it comes to our batting, think we always talk about laying the foundation and then finishing off from that foundation which has been laid. So I thought the foundation laid by Ryan was superb. So Ryan. Carrying from that foundation, getting you to that total, great hand there by Surya,” said Rohit before giving Suryakumar Yadav the award.

Mumbai Indians secured their fifth win on the trot in IPL 2025 defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

This is the last time Mumbai won five consecutive matches to clinch the title in 2020. With such an all-round display by MI, they ensured their place at the end of the day in the top 4 of the IPL points table along with 12 points.
